Back in 1978, 2 bored teenagers, Maggie Fleming and her friend Ruth Lister, decided that Letham needed a Drama Group, so they went about setting one up. They approached Kate Nicoll, an English teacher at Forfar Academy and asked her advice. She was very interested in the project, having herself directed and acted on stage. She agreed to help. The girls sought possible members among their neighbours and friends and before long the group was rehearsing and in a surprisingly short time, was putting on its first production, a Scot's comedy 'Burnieknowe'.
